I'd love it if our little guy would comfort nurse but he refuses unless there's milk in the SNS. :( How did you encourage your sweet baby to comfort nurse? He will eat and eat and EAT unti he's engorged and then spits it all up. I'm in month 14 of nursing my adopted DD, and it has been the best parenting decision I have made so far. Thanks to very generous milk donors and a Lact-aid, DD was EBF from birth on! I believe this helped to heal her from her lonely first four months. You are an awesome mom who gave a beautiful gift of milk and nurturing! I nursed my oldest daughter until toddlerhood and am still nursing my two year old and enjoying the bond with her and ability to comfort her and make her happy and secure. I have seen protocols for inducing lactation, but they involve drugs (birth control and another drug) that seem to be a challenge right now - so I was skeptical.

It was heart-warming to read about how it might work for us anyway. All that is required is a #5 french 36 inch feeding tube and a container for the milk. At the Newman Breastfeeding Clinic the tubes sell for $1 each and last quite a while but you can purchase them online and in a lot of pharmacies too :-)Helenhttp://www.naturalmothering.canoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31180029.post-5947609725496208082010-01-31T21:40:44.809-05:002010-01-31T21:40:44.809-05:00What a touching story!

We do a combo of nursing and bottle feed (I used an SNS with my first son for 4 months and did not want to go back to it) and he is almost 8 months. I am really hoping that he will continue nursing as he gets older.

We do a lot of comfort nursing now Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31180029.post-54552505834802735492009-09-09T00:28:17.320-04:002009-09-09T00:28:17.320-04:00Thank you for sharing this story.
