Tips on How to Travel with A Baby

Traveling with a baby can present challenges to the parents, especially when it is your first time. Babies need things and you have to carry those with you. You will need to prepare, adjust your expectations, and your pace. As such, here are some tips on how to help you travel with your baby:

Prepare for the Climate

When you travel to a cold country with your baby, bring warm clothes. Meanwhile, if you travel to a hot destination, make sure to bring shirts and shorts. This is because when you are unprepared and you plan to buy clothes in the malls, it can be very expensive.

Choose the right baby size clothing and Maxi Cosi for the climate. Do not also forget the shoes. During summer, buy a sun hat with a strap and a feature that will protect the neck.

Finally, pick a few items for your baby in a bigger size. You can save money and find cute clothes for your baby on a vacation.

Air Travel With your Baby

Air travel is highly regulated and it needs lots of preparation. Experts provide that the baby must be at least seven days old to travel by plane. However, it is best to wait until your baby is three months old to minimize the risk of infection.

Avoid traveling around 8,000 feet above sea level. This is true for the first month of the baby’s life. The air around this altitude is thin and it can make breathing for the infant difficult.

Do not travel when your baby is sick or has just recovered. Ask the advice of your pediatrician before traveling.

Bring a Collapsible Baby Stroller

When traveling, it is best to bring a collapsible baby stroller from Maxi Cosi. Choose one that you can fold neatly and be slung over your shoulder like a tote bag. Most airlines can recognize it as carry-on luggage. You can put it on the overhead bin without any hassle.

However, this is not recommended for babies under 6 months and it is expensive.

Apart from the stroller, you can choose to have a baby carrier. There are many times when the baby can fall asleep on your chest. This baby carrier can alleviate the stress of the baby in the stroller.

Buy Wipes

Make sure to bring wipes. Diaper wipes are traveling moms and dads’ best friend. They can wipe sticky hands, faces, and serve as toilet paper. This can also help clean gross surfaces that you or your baby need to touch. With diaper wipes and hand sanitizers, you are assured that your baby is clean during the trip.

Pack Extra Snacks and Drinks for the Baby

Babies eat and drink twice as much during air travel. Don’t make bottles after the security checks it. They will subject the bottles to scrutiny. If you are breastfeeding, make sure to pack a few pouches of frozen or liquid pumped milk to supplement your baby’s food.

For solids, bring a combination of healthy snacks. Filter the snacks in a resealable bag for ease of screening.
