It is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY for parents to FULLY inform themselves of what circumcision is - the organs it removes from another human being without their consent - and the way in which these organs are painfully, and scarringly severed from the body. If you cannot easily watch circumcisions being performed on another infant child, WHY SHOULD YOUR newborn suffer this damage and abuse just because you are not in the room when it occurs??
And if your boy grows up and really "wants to be like dad" -- he can choose to be circumcised at a time when he is able to be fully anesthetized for the procedure. Speaking with other adult men who DID get circumcised for one reason or another when they were over the age of 16, ALL of them have said they would never circ their sons. Never.
As a mother in the early 1990's, the choice to circumcise my newborn son was made like most other teen mothers- blindly. The hospital nurse came in, told me the procedure needed done to keep my son healthy and to sign the paper. Without knowledge of what I was agreeing to put my new baby through, I signed, believing that I was doing what every loving parent did. As I was not Jewish but Christian raised, circumcision was not a choice to be made through religion.
Over a decade later, I still remember how my son looked when I saw him afterwards. His eyes, previously peaceful and dreamy, now was wet and wild with terror. I didn't understand it. I was told that the baby didn't really feel much pain during the circumcision. I was told the pain that was felt would be instantly forgotten a couple moments after the surgery was done. I was told a lot of things by nurses and family except the things that I had needed to know.
Without resistance, thousands of parents for several decades followed what medical authority recommended. However, there might have been considerable less parents choice circumcision if the facts were made public knowledge:
Circumcision is NOT a necessary surgery to keep boys healthy.
Circumcision DOES inflict major pain on the baby.
Anesthesia is not used, and when it rarely is used, the medicine does not provide enough relief and can cause death.
The newborn baby will be strapped down, will tremble, wail, vomit and hold his breathe from the surgery. Many boys go unconscious during the infliction.
Due to these terrible truths, many mothers are now suffering guilt over what they allowed to be done to their sons. Unfortunately, there is another truth that many don't realize. The truth about circumcision within Christianity.
Circumcision in the beginning was not the removal of the foreskin, but a small cut of the foreskin. Modern day circumcision was integrated into U.S. society as a "cure" for masturbation in the late 19th century.
Jewish circumcision started about 2,000 years before Jesus came. This was so the people would understand the purpose of the Old Covenant before the New Covenant came into being. When Jesus came, he was circumcised and it was the beginning of his sacrifice.
After Jesus fulfilled the Old Covenant, the New Covenant became the law for Christians. The time of Jewish circumcision and animal sacrifices was ended. Circumcision of a male child born in the New Covenant is blasphemous and macabre torture.
There is many passages in the Bible that explains God's stance on circumcision. The following is the most relevant to today's society.
Colossians 2: 8-11 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after the Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Rom. 3:29-30 Is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles, also? Yes, of Gentiles also. Since the God who will justify those of the circumcision out of faith, and those of the uncircumcision through faith, is One.
Gal. 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us.
Matt.9:13 I desire mercy and not sacrifice.
God abhorred the ancient circumcision but used it as a tool, and he most assuredly abhors the mutilation of modern circumcision.
There is nothing that parents who have chosen to circumcise in the past can do now. That is, except tell others about the grisly details of circumcision and broadcast the truth about God's position on circumcision. Circumcision is a heinous act, and not to circumcise is a religious one.
Jesus was born Jewish. Jesus himself was against circumcision.
Jesus was under the old law. He sacrificed so that we would no longer have to do it. We have baptism in place of circ.
When Jesus died on the cross to save us, he abolished the old laws and started a new. He did away with circumcision and instead we have baptism (Colossians 2:8-12)
1 Corinthians 7:18-19
"Was a man already circumcised when he was called? He should not become uncircumcised. Was a man uncircumcised when he was called, he should not be circumcised. Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, keeping G-d's commands is what counts."
Galations, chapter 5
2: Now I, Paul, say to you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you.
3: I testify again to every man who receives circumcision that he is bound to keep the whole law.
4: You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace.
5: For through the Spirit, by faith, we wait for the hope of righteousness.
6: For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision is of any avail, but faith working through love.
Galatians 6:12-16 ...It is those who are trying to compel you to have yourselves circumcised, only that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. Not even those having themselves circumcised observe the law themselves; they only want you to be circumcised so that they may boast of your flesh...
Romans 2:25-29 Circumcision , to be sure, has value if you observe the law; but if you break the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision....One is not a Jew outwardly. True circumcision is of the heart, in the spirit, not the letter; his praise is not from human beings but from G-d
Philippians 3:2-3 ...Beware of the mutiliation! For we are the circumcision, we who worship through the Spirit of G-d...
In the Gospel of John (7:22), Jesus spoke at The Feast of Tabernacles and spoke against circumcision. He said "This is not the doctorine of he who sent me . . . it is of the fathers. What it appears Jesus was talking about is that it appears circumcision was not a covenant between God and Abraham. The early writings of The Old Testament were kept in The Temple that burned about 800BC -500BC. However, some remnants of the original writings survive today and one of those remnants is the part about The Covenant of Circumcision and those remnants contain no mention of circumcision. It appears that Jesus was aware of this and was saying that God didn't command circumcision but that actually it was included when the original writings were re-constructed from the remnants and memory.
This sounds about right. It is well established that the priests of Egypt practiced circumcision thousands of years before the time of Abraham. The priests were the elite of that society and it appears that the early Jews adopted circumcision in emulation of the powerful and influential Egyptian priests much like young people have adopted tattoos in emulation of popular music groups.
