Milk Drunk

Poem and image © 2010 Danelle Frisbie

middle of the night
he stirs, but no cry
and roots around for
comfort he knows is nearby

she rolls, turns, asleep
moving. instincts wild -
primal to a mother
at slumber with her child

he latches,
eyes yet closed,
and gulps in all her goodness
as baby dreams unfold

tummy fills up full
no muscles are spent
just blissful sweet release
and everyone's content

milk drunk on momma's love!
he falls fast and deep
rolls back over -butstilltouching-
and everyone's asleep.

  17. i love children's place cotton sleepers - they are the only ones i've found that are:

    (1) all cotton
    (2) comfortable (so i am told)
    (3) in many sizes
    (4) big enough/long enough/wide enough
    (5) do not shrink in many, many washes
    (6) hold up well (in the feet/knees) even with outdoor play or rough indoor play PLUS you can get them on sale for like $7 each.

  19. I LOVE those pajamas, too!! They call them "strechies"-- they are my favorite. I always look for them on sale online. They have a sale section and $5 shipping no matter how big the order. I oftentimes get Major's clothes for $2.50 an item from them! Love it.

  28. I love it! Perfect! I just finished breastfeeding my toddler and this was just so special to real post feed.

I also just noticed Kittie's special words below your blogs title! I work at the hospital she does and can't say enough great things about her.

She made it possible for me to continue to feed my little one by lending me and letting me keep a pump on my unit! She is awesome!
